I still bought the genesis gold B from my local hardware store. It cooks great and has all the features I was looking for. It heats up and is ready to cook in a couple of minutes. I upgraded to the gold because the grill, flavorizer bars ( those things the juice drips on and gives the flavor to the meat) and burners are stainless steel instead of porcelin coated steel. This seemed to fit based on the amount of online research I did prior to settling on this brand and model. Couldn't afford a Weber of this size, so I got the next best thing - Ducane, which is now owned/made by Weber. Received my grill last week after weeks of waiting for it to come in stock. Price (9) was comparible to other vendors [...] The grill was fairly easy to put together, but I was glad there was two of us doing it. Made things easier. Took a little over an hour to put together. Seems sturdy and well made. Be sure you have a socket set for tightening all the nuts. So far, I've used the grill twice. Starts instantly, gets very hot. Will take some time to figure out the right temperature settings to use. Burned some whole baking potatoes pretty quickly the first time using the grill. One complaint - I wish the cart under the grill had a back to it. There are two stainless steel doors on the front of the cart, which gives the illusion of storage, however there is no back to the cart - you can see right in. What good are the doors on the front then? I could understand for the propane version of the grill, but I expected there to be storage since this is natural gas and no tank needs to sit under the grill. So far, seems like it was worth the wait. The cheap ones like Charm Glow only lasted a year or so. About 10 years ago I got a Weber Sprit BBQ and it last until this year. I was able to rebuild the flavor bars and grill twice in that 10 year period. Weber is great in that you can get parts for old BBQ's. However, I live near the beach and BBQ a lot. The Sprit had an aluminum box and porclin coated iron parts for the grill and flavor bars. These parts rusted out and /or corroded. So this time I wanted a BBQ that was ALL stainless. In looking arround I found several makes that claimed to be stainless but had many nonstainless parts. The Weber Gennesis was expensive but is ALL stainless. Assemby was fairly easy but the diagrams (no writen instructions)take some studing at each step. Total time to assemble was 2.5 hr. This grill is well made and does a terrific job of BBQing. It is not cheap but I belive it is worth the money in the long run. Ceramic coated metal parts, where other grills would use plastic. All the holes for bolts and screws line up correctly. It took 2-3 hours, but I didn't have any problems. I got a chance to use it last night and it was a joy! It heated up fast! the temperature on the grates is even, no hot and cold spots. The flavorizer bars are designed to create a lot of smoke to add flavor to what you are cooking (use in the open or a well ventilated area). And by the way, Natural Gas is the way to go! We will now be grilling much more often knowing that we won't be depleting some tank (that seem to be less filled now that they prefill and exchange). Had 2 Broil Kings. My previous grills did an adequate job but having been using the E-420 Summit for the past 5 months has made me realize why Weber is the "King" of BBQ grills. Prior to purchasing, I was convinced this time I would go "high end" so I checked out brands such as Vermont Castings, DCS and others in the top level. I settled on the Weber after visiting the dealers and comparing the materials. Weber has the best price/quality available. This purchase was made during the winter months (best pricing from dealers who are out to unload inventory). Performance has resulted in the food tasting great with even temperature throughout the majority of cooking surface. Unlike my previous grills which had identified hot spots, BBQ'ng and Grilling can be done without continuous shifting of food to attain eveness. When cooking chicken (with skin) or other fatty meats, flare-ups are kept to a minimum with the grill design, as well as drainage and clean-ups. The packaging is well thought out with minimal assembly required. Weber after sales service is likewise, just as excellent as the product. After the initial hook-up to the natural gas line, the side burner would not light up consistently (sometimes taking as many as 10 pushes on the ignitor). Customer Service immediately gave me suggestions to further trouble-shoot and when nothing worked, swiftly sent me a new burner ring and it has been "one click" since. My other grills were good but this one is great! They lasted more than 7 years each but the Weber looks like its going to last a lifetime. I highly recommend this product to those who love grilling often. My tip is to get the natural gas model as the burners are powerfull. I have used the grill once with huge success, based on the crowd pleasing ribs it produced. It got very hot, very quickly, but also maintained a nice low heat once I got used to burner adjustments. I'm new to Weber gas grills (I love my kettle) but I'm no stranger to their reputation of quality and consistency. I looked and looked at the competition, half hoping to find something that would sway me away from a Weber, but I kept coming back to "old" reliable Weber. Sure lots of other grills offered more bells and whistles(searing burners, fridge, IR rear burners)at the same price point, but none seemed to offer the material and build quality of the Weber line. Plus I feel confident that when it's time for parts, I'll actually find them for my Weber, not so with some discontinued brand X competitor. Now I will admit that I wish Weber had gone to front-mount controls by now on the Spirit and Genesis lines as they have for some time with the Summit line. If I have one knock on the grill, it would be on burner layout. Time will tell if it becomes an issue or not. Based on reviews and product demos on [...], I don't suspect that it will. Overall great grill but not cheap, at the end of the day you end up trading features for quality. Have used it several times already and am very pleased. Put off buying because of the cost but it is worth every penny. I think I would have liked the next size up but so far it is large enough for our family. Easy to light. Since we are all thumbs when it comes to putting togather, we had our plumber put it together. That also was worth the cost. We chose the natural gas grill because that is what we previously had. Didn't want the hassle of the tanks. By the way, one piece was broken in transit. Called Weber. What a great company. Sent out the new part. Only hard part was finding an adapter for the natural gas quick connect that comes with this grill that fit our natural gas stub-out on our house.
